An Accusing Finger

God didn’t go to all the trouble of sending his Son merely to point an accusing finger, telling the world how bad it was. He came to help, to put the world right again. John 3:17 MSG

Scrooge’s bent, gnarly finger accuses his poor bookkeeper of not working hard enough. No raise or bonus for him on Christmas day. He can work with no heat and like it or leave. Who cares about his kids at home?

Jesus isn’t like that. He comes to heal, He comes to encourage. He may convict us of sin but it’s very specific, very loving and very gentle.

He left heaven to help rescue us. And those who have deeply sinned in the world’s eyes can be His closest disciples that He keeps near His heart and nurtures. There’s no condemnation. That’s why they call Him the Savior
