A Heart That Was Waiting

But the time is coming-it has, in fact, come-when what you’re called will not matter and where you go to worship will not matter. 24 God is sheer being itself-Spirit. Those who worship him must do it out of their very being, their spirits, their true selves, in adoration.”f
25 The woman said, “I don’t know about that. I do know that the Messiah is coming. When he arrives, we’ll get the whole story.”
26 “I am he,” said Jesus. “You don’t have to wait any longer or look any further.” John 4:23-26 MSG

It doesn’t matter people’s opinion of you, if they respect you or belittle you. If in your heart you are humble before God, if in your heart you long to know Him then you can talk to Him or sing to Him in honesty and He will fall in love with your worship. He…loves….you….and is just ….waiting…. for you to love Him.

This woman at the well was waiting for a hero. She needed someone to answer her questions about life and she especially needed someone to love her sinful heart as it was. Jesus knew everything about her and was speaking gentle wisdom to her not just with love but also with respect. He was giving her exactly what she needed and also wanted most.

When she got an inkling He might be the Messiah: I  am he,” said Jesus. “You don’t have to wait any longer or look any further.” It must be like finding your true love. The waiting, and searching, and longing is over, I’m here.

This woman was so changed by His love and respect that she went and told her town. The town came out and found the same love and respect that she had. They all fell in love with Him too, and He with them.

  1. “I am he,” said Jesus. “You don’t have to wait any longer or look any further.” Does that make your heart flutter the way it does mine?
