Shape Fretting Into Settled

Don’t fret or worry.
Instead of worrying, pray.
Let petitions and praises
shape your worries into prayers,
letting God know your concerns.
Before you know it,
a sense of God’s wholeness,
everything coming together for good,
will come and settle you down.
Philippians 4:6-7 MSG

I’ve written about these verses before. This is a new version that I hadn’t read. I like it. It’s very descriptive of what happens. When we let our praises and petitions shape our worries into prayer it’s like us being a potter…as we pray and thank God for His love we form a blob of clay into a useful little jar or a pretty vase. So we no longer have a blob of worry but a prayer God can answer and peace for our souls. It’s a peace that settles us down like Jesus calming the sea.”Peace. Be still. And the waters ceased.” That’s the peace beyond comprehension that only God can place in the hearts of His children.
