A leper came to him, begging on his knees, “If you want to, you can cleanse me.” Deeply moved, Jesus put out his hand, touched him, and said, “I want to. Be clean” Mark 1:40, 41
He’s pleading because he’s desperate to be rid of the leprosy. Leprosy is a horrible disease that also causes separation between wives and husbands, children and their dad’s and between friends. At the same time this leper has a respect and a worship of Jesus that says “if You want to…” He trusts Jesus to do what’s best for him. That kind of trust moves Jesus to compassion. He has compassion on all of us but there’s a tender place in his heart for those who trust Him and rest in His will for them.
Lord, You are good and we can rest in Your goodness. You only have thoughts of love towards us. “whatever you’d like to do with my life here it is.” Bring healing if you please
