All through Hebrews 4 we’re told to enter into God’s rest. It’s a wonderful place of peace and nearness to Him. But as you read Hebrews what it keeps saying is obey if you want that rest. There’s some kind of requirement, some type of ritual to follow, so it seems… How can we obey every letter of God’s Law? There’s no way to enter that sweet rest we need.
So let’s walk right up to him and get what he is so ready to give. Take the mercy, accept the help. Hebrews 4:16 MSG
At the last paragraph of the chapter we find the mystery solved. There is a way a sinner can get into His rest. It isn’t the way we were worried it was. Perfection is not required. How gracious our God is. He bestows mercy through His Son who experienced temptation but didn’t sin. God grants us rest if we receive and give mercy.
