10 This new plan I’m making with Israel isn’t going to be written on paper, isn’t going to be chiseled in stone; This time I’m writing out the plan in them, carving it on the lining of their hearts.
12 They’ll get to know me by being kindly forgiven, with the slate of their sins forever wiped clean. Hebrews 8:10,12 MSG
When we show love to someone that love comes from our heart of hearts. When we become dedicated to a cause it’s from our heart of hearts, which is really the center most place of our being. So God was very wise to change the plan, the Promise, from cold paper and stone, to warm, tender heart of hearts. He knew where He could put His Finger and be known by us, of course not just known but loved. To be loved by us is the longing of His heart of hearts.
Then He didn’t write a bunch of rules on us. That’s a burden too hard and no fun to bear for a spiritually frail human being. What He did was more beautiful and freeing than any god has ever done. All the sin we commit when we break those rules or disappoint Him are completely washed away, disappeared. So we are “kindly forgiven” in His eyes, in our hearts, and this begins a relationship sweet and eternal.
