The Kiss

Then Jacob kissed Rachel, and lifted his voice and wept. Jacob told Rachel that he was a relative of her father and that he was Rebekah’s son, and she ran and told her father. (Genesis 29:11, 12 NASB)

For Jacob he knew because of family ties and he knew because he saw her face she belonged with him. The kiss. So sweet, so sincere, so full of emotion. He wept because he found the love he’d been waiting for. Rachel understood once he explained to her so she ran to tell her dad!

The Bible is full of real people. Most of them aren’t holier-than-thou. A lot of them make big mistakes or have major struggles. This story about Jacob is real and tender and a window into a genuine man with feelings for a sweet lady he’d been searching for all his life.
