Kind of Like Cinderella

(now the man’s name was Nabal, and his wife’s name was Abigail. And the woman was intelligent and beautiful in appearance, but the man was harsh and evil in his dealings, and he was a Calebite), (1 Samuel 25:3 NASB)

Nabal sinned foolishly against David. David decided to let the Lord handle it rather than take revenge. Nabal’s wife Abigail got on her face before David and prophesied David’s success and apologized for her husband’s foolishness. Abigail went home and gave a message to Nabal. Nabal collapsed and later passed away.

When David got the message that Nabal had died he sent a proposal of marriage to Abigail. She was discerning and godly. She was beautiful and she had been married to a tyrant. When she got a message special for her from the King her hands must have trembled with curiosity and excitement. She could trust David so there was no fear. Within it was a message beyond her dreams. It was a request for her hand from the king. She said yes of course. And she went to live in the palace with a kind man. Kind of like Cinderella.
