Deepest Questions

1 Kings 10:1-13

The Queen of Sheba had heard Solomon’s reputation for wisdom and riches. She didn’t go to visit him, though, for his riches. She had plenty herself. In fact she brought him major amounts of gold and spices as a gift.

The Queen came to test his wisdom and ended up finding answers to her most heart felt questions, in fact everything that was on her mind. She was satisfied when she left and received also some tangible gifts from Solomon.

We don’t have the privilege of meeting with Solomon. But we can meet with Jesus… a man wiser than Solomon. We can ask Him our deepest questions but He may or may not answer them right away. I don’t understand this completely. But He loves us and woos us so that the answers to some of the questions we seek are diminishing and melted away in His love.

One Day we’ll be able to sit down in Heaven and talk face to face with Him. All that’s left in our heart of confusion and misunderstanding will be touched by His finger and we’ll understand. And we’ll find out how we glorified Him in the midst. At last peace will come. Not for a moment, this peace, but peace that will be our eternity. For me there are a lot of questions, why God did things the way He did. But the moments I sit reading His word or praying or writing, soothe the questions. I’m loved no matter the sins of others or mine. There’s a song that says this:
Our hearts unfold before Your throne
The only place for those who know
It’s not for us, It’s all for You
