Because you are my helper, I sing for joy in the shadow of your wings. (Psalms 63:7 NLT)
He’s our helper. He gives wisdom generously when we ask. When we are in need of rescuing from sin He hears and comes and cleanses. He gives brothers and sisters to comfort or laugh with us. And when only He will do He pours out His grace and mercy in our hearts and we are nearer to Him than a heartbeat.
Joy in the shadow of His wings … Joy is a peace, joy can be a glowing smile, but sometimes it’s just the knowledge that you are loved and secure in the shadow of His wings. Jesus was calling Jerusalem because:
How often I have wanted to gather your children together as a hen protects her chicks beneath her wings, but you wouldn’t let me. (Luke 13:34 NLT)
He offered Jerusalem His most cozy place of familiarity with Him, and His most safe.but they turned it away. So sad and a consternation. Why?
