[WE ARE writing] about the Word of Life [in] Him Who existed from the beginning, Whom we have heard, Whom we have seen with our [own] eyes, Whom we have gazed upon [for ourselves] and have touched with our [own] hands. (1 John 1:1 AMP)
There was a Word of Life on Earth, a living Word Picture, He was the Father’s desire to communicate with His children, wayward or following near. This word was no ordinary Word. He was the Ancient of Days who had been from the beginning. And the surprise was that those alive when the Ancient of Days was here got to gaze on Him. Not only did they watch His every move but they hugged Him, they leaned on Him while they reclined at table.
God gave them a privilege like no other. But the privilege didn’t end there. We now have the ability to lean on Him in our hearts. We can gaze at Him and the “things of earth will grow strangely dim in the light of His glory and grace.”
