I really enjoyed the Lord of the Rings trilogy…the good wins over darkness. In the final battle it wasn’t going well for the men and they were about to be overtaken. But what should happen but tall, frightening trees showed up to fight on the men’s side. They changed the odds and the men and trees won.
Creation groans for us. It’s been ready for us to be made new and pure and it moans. That’s why our dog is our best friend. That’s why a manatee and a dolphin contain such beauty. Because they’re cheering us on to heaven, working at our side for battle like the big, frightening trees. Battles, warriors aren’t always recognizable.
Someone else groans on our behalf. The way He does battle for us is before the throne. He yearns for us to be like Him so that He has moans too deep for words. I have pride and slip in a conversation something good i’ve done. There’s a song that says how all that we do right is done by grace alone. The song is very convicting to me, such that I’m in tears and unable to sing with the group. Maybe the Holy Spirit is pleading for this sinner with moans too deep for words.
We know that the whole creation [of irrational creatures] has been moaning together in the pains of labor until now. So too the [Holy] Spirit comes to our aid and bears us up in our weakness; for we do not know what prayer to offer nor how to offer it worthily as we ought, but the Spirit Himself goes to meet our supplication and pleads in our behalf with unspeakable yearnings and groanings too deep for utterance.(Romans 8:22, 26, AMP)
